Traditional to Modern Entrance Door Transformation in Just One Day

When we got to the property the great British weather had really turned. So the shoot was carried out in a heavy downpour, only sheltered by an umbrella supplied by Mrs Hart. We just managed to get a quick shot too of a previous install at the back of the property. We hope to return for a full feature soon!

What made you want to change your existing door?

Our existing front doors were rather dated – having been installed when the house was built in the 1980s! It was also the last door / window to be replaced by Kettell windows (final piece in the jigsaw) and we wanted to unify the house frontage.

How easy was it to design your dream door?

We knew roughly what type and colour of door might work, and just needed to decide on sizing and details such as glass and hardware. Then putting this into practice online, using the online design tool.

What was most important to you when it came to features of your door? E.g, Security, Thermal efficiency, Style?

Security and style were more important, as we previously had a clear glass door and needed more privacy.

Our campaign is around banishing your bad door: What did you term ‘bad’ about your door?

As mentioned; the outdated design, lack of security and privacy. 

You came to visit the showroom to finalise your design, how beneficial was it to come & see the product?

This was very important. We needed to see the materials, design and hardware choices for the door. Also to test out the handle options. During this process, we changed the door design and handle options from our original idea.

Why did you choose the style & colour of your door?

Partly to blend in with the general style, date and façade of the house. Also to coordinate with the colour of our garage door.

How were Kettell during the process of designing & deciding on your door?

The advice given was excellent. We were never rushed, and taken through every option and encouraged to try out handles. We visited the showroom twice and had time to discuss any concerns without pressure. 

Prior to the install did you feel well informed of the process and preparation for the install?

Yes, completely.

Now your door is installed what do you think?!

It looks great, exactly as I hoped it would! The size, colour and design are perfect for the entrance. My only slight hesitation was the reduced light from the door. But this is outweighed by the increased security and privacy.

How did you find things on the install day?

This went very smoothly. The old door was removed with little mess and the new one slotted in perfectly. The fitters arrived on time and even left a little earlier than expected once the work was done, checked and everything cleared up.

How were the fitters?

As usual, the Kettell fitters were very polite, friendly, respectful and kept us fully informed during the whole process. They made very little mess and any debris was cleared up completely.

Were you shown how to use the door & explained how to maintain it?

Yes, although I can’t remember if they advised the best product for cleaning the door.

What is your overall impression of the Door/Comp Door^® Brand?

Very solid and reassuring – the door closes easily with a comforting click. Our entrance hall is now much quieter with less noise from the road. I’m sure it will also be much warmer and draft proof when the colder weather comes. It looks like it will be easy to maintain and clean.

Would you recommend Comp Door^®/ Kettell?
