We know these past few weeks have been challenging for many of us in all kinds of ways.
For the Kettell family it was particularly hard at the beginning as we had to make the difficult but necessary decision to temporarily close our beloved business and let down our lovely customers.
As we closed we then suspect John Junior contracted the virus. We self isolated him to our bedroom, myself and the children delivered food and water to him at regular intervals, checking on his progress and I am pleased to say he has made a full recovery.
We did, however, get great support from extended family in the form of food parcels and emergency plasters and blu-tak from our kind neighbours. I hope like us you have witnessed a revived sense of community and an appreciation for the little things in life? I for one have had time to indulge in my passion for baking and have been busy in my greenhouse growing every fruit and vegetable you can imagine!
What we also learnt from the time and John having the virus is not to underestimate the seriousness of this situation.
This is why we have been working tirelessly to create a full COVID-19 Risk Assessment & Operating guides for both our team and customers. This has been continually updated as guidance becomes available, particularly with the announcement on Monday 11th May that we can return to work in people’s homes.
We have been keeping all of our existing customers updated on our situation, and we can’t thank them enough for how patient and understanding they have been!
So it has been great that this week we have phased back to installations. We are taking our time, as our customers are working from home and have multiple occupants in the property which is quite different to pre-COVID. But our team are reporting back on progress so we can continually inform future work practices. We have also added extra days to the plan to allow for any little bumps along the way.
We have skeleton staff at our office & showroom in East Goscote and still request that prospective customers consider a virtual appointment. We have, however, installed hand gel stations & are carrying out regular cleaning practices.
So, if like us you have been at home thinking what home improvements you would like to make, or perhaps your working from home is going to continue and you need more space, such as a garden office then please feel free to get in touch!
We are so pleased to be back up and running, although at a reduced capacity, and hope to continue to make a real difference to homes across Leicester and Leicestershire. Oh, and if you are also after some bean plants, I have plenty of those going too!
Stay Safe,
Lisa Kettell
